Providence Grove High School conducted a “Reality Store” for 9th graders today. The Reality Store is a “Communities in Schools of Randolph County” initiative that teaches financial literacy and gives young people an idea of how difficult balancing a budget can be for families. Each student is given a hypothetical family situation, job, and monthly income. The student then goes from table to table to “purchase” housing, transportation, insurance, childcare, etc. The objective is to teach students the importance of managing finances and staying within a budget. Volunteers from our school system and community work the tables and assist the students with their financial decisions.

On March 18 and 19, our fourth-grade students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Tanger Center for the Performing Arts in Greensboro to enjoy a performance by the Greensboro Symphony. This enriching experience was made possible with support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Check out the photos here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1GYZL5z5ErO9sw7X8I_LuAbrjFFh8Z7cB?usp=sharing A heartfelt thank you goes to Wendy Anderson, RCSS Director of Transportation, and her outstanding team for expertly coordinating the activity buses and ensuring our students traveled safely to and from the event.
