Superintendent, Dr. Stephen Gainey and School Nutrition Director, Jeff Howard, speak to the RCSS School Nutrition staff at its yearly beginning-of-the-year meeting this week preparing for the start of school. We appreciate our school nutrition department for all they do to make sure our students are fed each day!

Mark Walker, RCSS Career and Technical Education Teacher of the Year, was recognized at last night's board meeting for being named a North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) 2026 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year Finalist. Cory Phillips, principal of Randleman High School; Dr. David Cross, Randolph County Schools’ Director of Career and Technical Education; Nancy Cross from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction; John Kirkman, Executive Director of the North Carolina Association for Career and Technical Education; and Dr. Womble from NCCAT joined us in support of Mr. Walker. We are grateful for their presence as we honored Mr. Walker.

From Monday through Thursday, the Randolph County School System hosted “Beginning Teachers Orientation,” welcoming 31 new educators to our RCSS family! Throughout the week, they participated in district sessions packed with valuable information. Yesterday, they met with our Curriculum and Instruction Directors, and today they joined their mentors at their schools to begin preparing classrooms for the 2025–2026 school year. We can’t wait to see the difference they’ll make for our students!

Yesterday, Central Services Administrators, Principals, and Assistant Principals from across the Randolph County School System gathered to officially kick off the 2025-2026 school year. With excitement and collaboration in the air, our leadership team is energized and ready to welcome students and staff back. It's going to be a great year!

Two groups were recognized during Tuesday's Apprenticeship Randolph event: the Class of 2025 graduates who successfully completed the program, and the newly selected apprentices preparing to begin their journey. The 9th Annual Signing and Graduation Ceremony was held in the Randolph Community College auditorium. Congratulations to both the graduates and the incoming apprentices—and a heartfelt thank you to the local business partners who make these opportunities possible.

If you have an upcoming Kindergartener and have not registered them yet, it's not too late! Get them registered before school starts!!! Go to the elementary school your child should attend to register. Summer office hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30-5:30.
