Level Cross Elementary students received an exciting and educational visit from Level Cross Firefighters, who brought essential life-saving lessons and a fully loaded fire truck directly to the school campus.
The interactive visit focused on practical emergency preparedness, giving students actionable steps to stay safe both at home and at school. Firefighters stressed the importance of knowing exactly what to do in the event of a fire, walking students through emergency action plans and urging them to practice escape routes and establishing a designated meeting place outside the home, ensuring every family member knows where to gather safely once evacuated.
Addressing modern household risks, the firefighters also conducted a special session on fire safety when using electronic devices. They educated students on safe charging habits, the dangers of overcharging, and how to prevent lithium-ion batteries from overheating.
To wrap up the visit, students gathered outside for a detailed walkthrough of the fire truck. Firefighters gave a step-by-step explanation of the specialized equipment carried onboard, including high-pressure hoses, heavy-duty rescue tools, and protective gear, giving students a firsthand look at the technology and teamwork required in emergency response.
We are very appreciative of the time that the Level Cross firefighters spent with our Lions helping them understand the importance of fire safety.
