ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

ROOF REPLACEMENT FOR

Coleridge Elementary School

RAMSEUR, NORTH CAROLINA

 

Sealed proposals will be received by the Randolph County School System until 2:00 pm EDST on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 2234-B Enterprise St., Asheboro, North Carolina 27205, and immediately thereafter publicly opened and read aloud, to furnish all materials and labor for the roof replacement of Coleridge Elementary School, Ramseur NC.

 

All work under this contract is to be included in a Single Prime contract to the successful bidder. A mandatory pre-bid conference will be held at the site at 9:00 AM on Thursday, May 14, 2026. Attendees shall meet outside the front doors of Coleridge Elementary School, 4528 Hwy. 22 South, Ramseur, NC 27316.

 

Those wishing to attend the pre-bid with the intention of submitting a bid, must register with the Consultant prior to the meeting to ensure a sufficient quantity of plans and specs are made available. Bidders must be properly licensed for the work in accordance with Section 87 of the North Carolina General Statutes.

 

A brief description of work in the project follows

Total Roof Size is approximately 52,400 sq ft.

Approximately 45,400 sq. ft. of the existing roof will require tear-off of gravel-surfaced built-up membrane and insulation down to the original metal decks - New insulation system shall be tapered polyisocyanurate foam boards with 5/8" fire code gypsum board on the deck. All insulation to be mechanically attached. Provide tapered insulation as shown on roof plans.

The replacement membrane assembly consists of the application of a 60 mil. KEE single-ply membrane mechanically attached through the insulation assembly to the metal deck.

Approximately 7,000 sq ft. will require removal of existing gravel surface and built-up flashings prior to an over-roof using ½” glass-faced cover board and the same KEE membrane, all mechanically fastened to the deck.

Scope of Work includes installation of new perimeter wood nailers and edge metal.

Work includes all sheet metal fabrications shown on the contract documents and as specified.

Roofing system installation shall require a final inspection by the Membrane Manufacturer and will be eligible to receive a 20-year material and labor warranty covering the full- system including the insulation and membrane. The Contractor will also provide a five-year workmanship warranty.

For bidding purposes, job start is estimated to be June 16, 2026.

Bidder will provide a Completion date with his bid. This information will be important when evaluating bids.

The resulting contract will be to furnish all labor, supervision, materials and equipment necessary to perform the work as shown on the plans and described in the project specifications.

 

A 5% bid security as well as a 100% Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds are required for this project. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of 60 days.

 

Bidders must be properly licensed for the work in accordance with Section 87 of the North Carolina General Statutes. General Contractors must have a general license classification for at least UNLIMITED BUILDING or S (ROOFING) in accordance with the Rules & Regulations of the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors.

 

Minority businesses are encouraged to submit bids for this project. The appropriate forms from the section entitled "Participation by Women and Minority Owned Businesses must be submitted with each bid to show good faith efforts to obtain Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise participation.

 

E-Verify Requirements: This project requires the awarded vendor to comply with the requirements of E-Verify. (U.S. law requiring companies to employ only individuals who may legally work in the United States - either U.S. citizens, or foreign citizens who have the necessary authorization.)

 

The Randolph County Board of Education awards public contracts without regard to race, religion, color, creed, national origin, sex, age or handicapped condition as defined by North Carolina General Statutes, Section 168A-3.

 

The Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids presented and to waive any informalities and irregularities.
