Each year, fifth-grade students take part in the D.A.R.E. program led by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout the program, students are introduced to the D.A.R.E. decision-making model and explore real-life challenges they may encounter as they grow up. They learn strategies for handling peer pressure and coping with stressful situations in positive ways. At the conclusion of the program, students write a D.A.R.E. essay reflecting on what they have learned. The following essays were chosen as the top five from Hopewell’s fifth grade.
