Hopewell’s Kindergarten students have been busy building a strong foundation in geometry through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. As part of their math instruction, students explored both two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes, learning to identify, compare, and discuss their unique attributes.
Using creativity and collaboration, students applied their knowledge in meaningful ways. Projects included designing an edible “shape train” and constructing festive creations such as a Christmas tree, snowman, reindeer, and Santa using a combination of 2D and 3D shapes. These activities allowed students to see how shapes come together to form objects they recognize, making learning both fun and memorable.
Beyond strengthening their understanding of shape characteristics, these interactive projects helped foster a strong mathematical community within the classroom. Students worked together, shared ideas, and supported one another as they explored new concepts, demonstrating that learning math can be both collaborative and joyful.
