All athletes MUST have a current physical (within the past year) to participate in practices/games.
This form is now required by the High School Athletic Association. It is also available in the front office and the training room.
|
|
Requirements for Athletic Participation:
-
A player must have been in attendance for at least 85 percent of the previous semester at an approved high school.
-
A student must have passed three courses during the preceding semester for schools on the "block" schedule or five courses in the traditional school schedule. A student must also be promoted to the next grade level.
-
Residence rule: Board Policy 4120 states that the student must attend school in the district in which the biological Parent or legal custodian resides. The parent must provide 2 proofs of residency pertaining to the home. Domicile (where the student actually sleeps at night) must be with the biological parent or legal custodian and they must attend school where the parent lives. - If an address is given to you and it is found out to be false (not where the child sleeps at night), then the student will be immediately removed from the school and if this student is an athlete he/she will not be able to participate in sports for 365 days.
-
Felony Policy: Wheatmore High School students are considered role models who are at all times expected to represent WHS’s high standards, during school as well as outside of school. Any student who is charged with a felony will not be able to participate in any WHS activities, which include but are not limited to athletics, marching band, theater, clubs and honor organizations, until all charges are cleared. Any student who is convicted of a felony will not be able to participate in any WHS activities, which include but are not limited to athletics, band, theater, clubs and honor organizations, for the school year.
-
Drug and Alcohol Policy: If a student is charged with a drug or alcohol violation, the parent and student will be required to attend SAFE counseling sessions. The student will be suspended from any WHS activities, which include but are not limited to athletics, marching band, theater, clubs and honor organizations until the counseling sessions have been completed and verified. The student will be placed on a school contract which will be enforced for the school year. If a second violation occurs, the student will not be able to participate in athletics, marching band, etc. as stated above.
