Mission of the School Library Program
The School Library Media Program is designed to support and enhance the educational goals of the school and district. The mission of the Instructional Media and Technology Program for Randolph County Schools is to ensure that students and staff are independent learners and effective users of ideas and information. Our programs are designed to teach the learner to seek, evaluate, and apply information from traditional sources and developing technologies within framework of the school's curriculum.
Media/Technology Advisory Committee
The Media/Technology Advisory Committee is made up of faculty representatives from each department and is chaired by the media specialist. This team collaborates in setting policies and guidelines for the media center as well as determining needs for purchasing books and audiovisual materials.
Media Assistants
Students work as assistants and earn one unit of credit for each of the four courses offered by the Media Center. They develop media competencies and skills needed in the production and circulation of instructional materials. Students learn computer and production skills. Students in advanced media courses practice advanced video, computer, and internet skills. They operate closed circuit television systems, learn video production, use advanced computer skills, troubleshoot and provide assistance to other students in the computer lab. Projects include graphics, newsletters, databases, multimedia production, and assisting teachers and other students with technology needs. Media production offers students the chance to explore a career interest as well as learning to organize information for presentation. Media courses help assistants to enhance research skills in preparation for Graduation Projects.
