I teach 7th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies. My class is located in one of our "learning cottages" in the back of the school. I graduated from UNC-G with a BS in Mathematics and a concentration in Computer Science. Before I became a teacher, I owned my own business as a computer programmer and consultant. I have two grown sons and two beautiful granddaughters who are the light of my life. I share my home with three ridulous dogs (Daisy, Roscoe and Maggie) and a long-suffering cat (Bo). I love working with middle school students. It is amazing to see them grow and change over the three years they spend with us.

This year will be very exciting as we implement the new Common Core (Language Arts and Math) and Essential Standards (all other subjects). For more information about the new curriculum, please visit the NC DPI website.

My philosophy about life is simple: Be prepared and no matter what life throws at you, you will come out alright. The best way I have found to be prepared for whatever opportunities (or problems) come my way is to never stop learning. I love learning new things and finding new meanings in things I thought I knew. I want to instill that passion for learning in my students, because I believe it is the best gift I can give them.
