MISSION STATEMENT

The school library media program is designed to support and enhance the educational goals of the school and district. The mission of the Instructional Media and Technology Program for Randolph County Schools is to ensure that students and staff are independent learners and effective users of ideas and information. Our programs are designed to teach the learner to seek, evaluate, and apply information from traditional sources and developing technologies within the framework of the school's curriculum.

Welcome to the RHS Media Center

§       Media center hours are 7:30 to 4:00 M, T, W, Th.  On Friday, hours are 7:30 to 3:30.  We encourage students who need media resources to come in before or after school. If Miss Sawyer is absent or at a workshop, the media center opens at 7:30.

§       It is Randolph County Board policy that students must have an AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) on file before they may use the Internet.  The Internet must only be used for school research and school assignments.

§       We have an "Open Lunch" policy in the RHS media center, which means that unless we are testing, students are welcome to come in during lunch to read or studyHowever, if they would like to use a computer in our media flex lab, they must have a teacher's note, and that teacher has to check for Internet permission.

§       Our media center staff consists of Miss. Sawyer, Media Specialist; Mrs. Beane, Media Assistant.

§       The normal check-out period for books is two school weeks (10 school days).  Students must renew or turn in books on time at RHS.  Overdue fines are .10 per day on regular books and .25 per day for reference books. Overdues and fines must be cleared before further check-out is allowed.

§       Since we normally do not check-out Reference books, free copies are allowed from Reference books, when needed for research.  When a student needs a large section of the Reference book, then one of the media staff may check-out a Reference item for overnight use, so long as the student does not have fines or overdues on his or her record.

§       Copies printed to our media laser printer are .10 per page.  Other than copies from Reference books (which are free), copies made on our media center copier are also .10 per page.

§       Unless students are part of a scheduled class, they must have a teacher's pass to come to the media center during their class time.

§       When we are testing in the RHS media center, the media center is closed to other students.

§       If a student is interested in becoming a Media Technology Assistant, he or she must receive approval from Miss Sawyer Only Juniors or Seniors are eligible to be Media Assistants.

§       No food or drinks are allowed in the media center.
