Science Rocks!

Dear Parents,

I am excited to announce that our initial Science Club Day was a success! I have been looking forward to this time when the students would be allowed to take the information learned thus far, expand upon it and then perform scientific experiments. This week we began by extending our knowledge about recycling and plant growth. The students used today’s experience to create Grow Cards. First we designed our very own gift cards. Next, we turned shredded paper into pulp and molded the recycled paper into shapes. Then we incorporated flower and herb seeds into this newly developed product.  Now we have an Earth friendly gift to share with a loved one who can simply remove the insert and plant it directly in the soil.

I believe that prior knowledge obtained in the classroom, along with hands on experiences enhance further learning for each child. A great big Thank You goes out to Mrs. Dunn-Swanson with the Randolph County Cooperative Extension Office for providing the materials that we needed for this project and for coming to our school to help us.

Science club meets the last Thursday of every month.  If at all possible please allow your child to attend each Science Club Day session. The only requirements are that you make sure to return the consent form signed and indicate your desired mode of transportation. All car riders need to be picked up after each session promptly at 3:30 in the back circle.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 824-2306 Ext#214.

Thank You for allowing us the opportunity to share in the life of your child.
