Online Courses
Online Course Offerings
In some instances, students may take advantage of on-line learning opportunities through the NC Department of Public Instruction’s North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS), iSchool, and Randolph Community College. Through a variety of online management systems, students may take a wide variety of courses, including AP courses, that they may not have access to at their high school. While distance learning opportunities provide tremendous benefits to students, in regards to course offerings, students centered instruction, flexible scheduling, heightened critical thinking and written communication skills, there are specific learner characteristics that promote greater student success in on-line learning environments. Enrollment in these courses requires the approval of the school principal, the school counselor and the student’s legal guardian. Registration dates and course offerings will be communicated to each school in the late spring.
Learn and Earn Online - LEO
Thanks to the leadership of Gov. Mike Easley and the NC General Assembly, North Carolina public high school students can earn college credits through a special Learn & Earn Online initiative beginning in the 2007-08 school year. Qualified students in participating public high schools can take a variety of online college credit courses at no cost to them or to their families. Students earn both high school and college credit for completed courses. Access to these courses is provided during the regular school day and an online course facilitator will assist students in the classroom. Courses will be offered during the 2008-09 school year through UNC-Greensboro online (UNCGi) and the community colleges. Students can enroll in UNCGi courses or community college courses by checking with their guidance counselor.

*Must have taken the exam.
*The regular classroom teacher should be agreeable.
-
Courses that cannot be recovered:
*Exit standard courses for students who entered high school in 06-07 or beyond when a student did not score proficient on the EOC exam, did not attend summer academy, did not receive a waiver in summer academy.
*Most vocational/elective courses cannot be recovered through NovaNET because the curriculum does not exist.
