Do you attend a "Home School?"
To be eligible to participate in Driver Education in Randolph County, the student must attend a school in Randolph County. This includes public schools, private schools, and home schools.
Home schooled students are entitled to participate in Driver Education; however, the determining factor is where the school is located, not where you live nor where you pay taxes.
(Example: Britain Academy is located in Davidson County; therefore, students attending Britain Academy must take Driver Education in Davidson County.) There are no exceptions to this rule due to state regulations.
Please contact the Driver Education Director for the county school district in which your child attends should you have further questions.
The Driver Education instructor will issue a Driver Education Completion Certificate, however, the same student must have an Eligibility Certificate in order to obtain a Drivers Permit in North Carolina.
The Home School Administrator will issue eligiblity certificates. The certificate must be secured through the NC Division of Non-Public Schools in Raleigh. Home school administration must request eligibility certificate from Raleigh. It is recommended that the Home School Administrator request this certificate when this student is enrolled in the book-work portion of Driver Education.
