Southeastern Randolph Middle School hosted a Reality Store for 8th graders on February 17, 2017.

Communities in Schools of Randolph County conducts “Reality Stores” at area middle schools. A Reality Store is a financial literacy experience to help students understand what it is like to live within a budget.

Students visit stations with the chance to "buy" a home, car, groceries, childcare, and other essentials on the budget they receive. From the activity, students learn the importance of staying in school, waiting to have children, buying the necessities before the wants, and other important life lessons. Volunteers at a Reality Store have fun while working the stations and assisting the students with their "purchases."

If you’d like to volunteer for any session at any of the schools, please contact Communities in Schools Director Paula Owens at powens@cisrandolph.org or 625-0008.
