EC Program Specialists

Under the direction of the Director of Exceptional Children Services, the EC Program Specialist will provide teacher support and program planning for specific schools and students. The EC Program Specialists are based at the Central Services Office to permit them to be more proactive to student and teacher needs. Some of the services provided by Program Specialists include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting teachers in utilizing best practices, integrating technology and finding resources that maximize instruction  
  • Providing assistance with lesson planning, differentiating instruction and integrating technology
  • Modeling, coaching, and conducting fidelity checks and debriefing sessions with teachers with the goal of improving teacher practice
  • Sharing instructional resources, strategies and best practices that engage students in developing a deeper understanding of the content
  • Introducing alternatives and refinements for teacher instructional practices
  • Providing training on using a variety of assessments to determine progress toward student learning goals as specified in the student's IEP
  • Facilitating professional learning opportunities and engaging in conversations using data to drive instructional decisions 
  • Analyzing standards to guide identification of essential knowledge and skills
  • Collaborating with teachers to analyze formative and summative student achievement data
