Steps To Become a School Bus Driver

 Students crossing to load on a school bus

·Complete a Randolph County School System application and a bus registration form at any Randolph County School.

·Human Resources will perform a background check.

·You will be contacted for enrollment in the next available bus class.

·You must meet physical and legal requirements.

·Complete the 3 day School Bus Driver Training Course.

·Pass the four required knowledge tests with a score of 80% or better.

·Go to any NC DMV Driver License Office for issuance of your permit.  The cost to issue a permit is $68.

·Complete behind-the-wheel training with a DEPS.

·Go to any NC DMV Driver License Office for issuance of your CDL. The cost to issue an initial license with a P and S endorsement is $84.

·After obtaining your CDL, present it to the bus garage for completion of the certification process.
